Eric Weaver

Eric Weaver, pilot, has logged extensive hours in seaplane operations, global Caravan Amphibian flights, and long-range Gulfstream missions for Fortune 100 corporate clients. His aviation career began with early experiences in rural Pennsylvania and steadily expanded into international operations that span the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. Today, as a veteran business aviation pilot, his professional life combines specialized seaplane expertise with corporate missions that demand discipline and adaptability.

Eric’s journey reflects a gradual progression from grassroots flying to corporate aviation at the highest level. Proficient in seaplanes, Caravan Amphibians, and complex business jets, he continues to expand his qualifications while mentoring younger aviators. His background includes instruction, demonstration flying, and long-range corporate assignments, giving him a career defined by versatility and a broad range of operational experience.

His introduction to flying came from his family’s farm in Pennsylvania. His father and uncle owned a Cessna 170, which they kept on a closed paved road through the property. This airplane provided Eric with his earliest aviation experiences and inspired his long-term commitment to flying. Alongside this, he gained knowledge of agriculture, working in partnerships and retailing farm products through direct-to-consumer sales. After high school, he joined Youth with a Mission, teaching English in Hong Kong before returning to help with family and business responsibilities. Later, he earned a degree in Business and Management Information Systems from Anderson University in Indiana, which laid a strong foundation for both business ventures and his aviation career.

After graduation, Eric and his parents acquired a 37-room lakeside resort in Florida that featured a golf course, banquet facilities, and a restaurant. He managed weddings, events, and daily operations at the property. During this time, his interest in aviation returned with the arrival of a seaplane. He went on to earn his private pilot certificate and purchased a 1954 Cessna 180 on straight floats. When the resort was destroyed by a hurricane in 2004, Eric turned fully toward aviation, completing additional ratings including commercial, instrument, multi-engine, instructor, and multi-engine seaplane.

During the Great Recession, Eric co-founded a seaplane base in Tavares, Florida, which became known as America’s Seaplane City. Partnering with Ricci Rowe, he helped build a thriving business focused on seaplane tourism and training. As a high-time multi-engine seaplane pilot and instructor, Eric achieved the FAA’s highest combination of category and class ratings—ASES, AMES, ASEL, and AMEL. Over the years, he has recommended more than 100 pilots for advanced ratings and earned recognition for his expertise in Caravan Amphibious aircraft. He also worked as a demonstration pilot for Wipaire, manufacturer of Caravan Amphibious floats.

In 2012, Eric expanded into corporate aviation, flying Cessna Caravans from New York City. His routes included South America, the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, and nearly every island in the Caribbean. From 2019 to 2024, he worked for a VVIP client in the New York area and earned a Gulfstream 550 type rating. His career has since advanced to flying both G550 and G600 aircraft for a Fortune 100 company, operating long-range international missions to the Middle East, Asia, and South America. These responsibilities demand careful planning and technical skill. Alongside his corporate role, Eric continues to mentor pilots and is pursuing authorization from the FAA to serve as a Designated Examiner.

Eric’s contributions also extend beyond active flying. He has held leadership positions as Director of Operations and Chief Pilot for Part 135 operators, helped launch a seaplane program at the Vermont Flight Academy, and participated in aviation outreach initiatives. His volunteer work includes flying with the EAA Young Eagles, providing flights for Make-A-Wish and Angel Flight, and supporting the Seaplane Pilots Association. His career has also included a credited role in the film The Rum Diary, piloting a twin-engine seaplane.

From his start on a family farm in Pennsylvania with a Cessna 170 to his current role piloting Gulfstream aircraft on global missions, Eric Weaver’s career reflects steady growth and professional range. His journey combines seaplane operations, corporate aviation, instruction, and mentorship. Today, he continues to balance global assignments with training and outreach, contributing both to his career and to the future of aviation.
